About the event

The Vancouver Military Dinner brings the traditions and people of Canada's Armed Forces to Vancouver. Each year, sailors, soldiers, aviators, and local residents come together for an elegant experience, dining on fine food, sharing experiences, and creating bonds that last far beyond the end of the evening.

For 2023, we're exploring the relationship between evolution, postive change, and the defence of Canada. Guests will meet and enjoy presentations from:

  • Lieutenant-General Jennie Carignan, the respected Canadian Army General leading efforts to improve defence culture and enhance professional conduct in the military, and;
  • Michelle Douglas, the veteran and renowned advocate whose landmark legal challenge led to the removal of policies prohibiting LGBT Canadians from serving.

Proceeds go to support The Rainbow Veterans of Canada (RVC), a nationally-recognized nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring that LGBTQ2+ CAF veterans are given the recognition, respect, and support they deserve. In addition to advocating for those affected by anti-LGBT policies, RVC promotes education, awareness, and respect for the lived experiences of LGBTQ2+ veterans and CAF members.

Dress:

Black tie or military mess uniform (2, 2A, or 2B). The wear of minature medals and decorations in encouraged.

Timing:

1800 (cocktail reception) for 1900 (dinner). A post-meal reception will follow.
